An amazing fundraiser

As someone who loves spending time in the mountains and taking on a challenge, Phil McLean signed up for an attempt on Stok Kangri (6,137m). This is one of the highest trekking peaks in the Himalaya, and is significantly higher than he’d climbed in the past.

He paid the full costs of the trip himself but decided to take the opportunity to raise some funds for worthwhile causes too.

He chose two charities to support – SAMH, Scotland’s mental health charity and Himalayan Children.

Event details

He trekked in the remote mountains of Ladakh in northern India for around a week with Exodus Travels. The trip began with several nights in the town of Leh (3,500m) to help acclimatise. He then wild camped in the mountains for the next eight nights, crossing mountain passes and taking in Palam Peak (5,380m). The plan was to culminate in an attempt to summit Stok Kangri (6,137m) –  a long and demanding mountain day of 12+ hours at high altitude!

The result

SUCCESSFUL SUMMIT ATTEMPT ON 18/07/18!
