Himalayan Children was originally set up to provide sponsorship for children at Lamdon School whose parents are not able to support the cost of their education.
The cost of boarding is £9 per week, but we will not sponsor a child until we can guarantee we can cover the cost for the full 4 years of secondary education. Students for sponsorship are recommended by the headmaster.
Himalayan Children was set up by Gail following her trekking visits to Ladakh; she has been joined by an enthusiastic team to help to manage the organisation and fundraising. The Trustees are particularly grateful to Rinchen Dolkar, who works tirelessly on behalf of Himalayan Children.
The success of the charity has allowed us to expand our remit beyond Lamdon School, but always with the focus of furthering the education of young people in Ladakh.
